e-Commerce Email Strategy for Direct to Consumer and Wholesale Customers

NOBL Foods manufactures a balanced food for your pets with none of the fillers or byproducts found in many top consumer pet foods. They sell online, direct to consumers, and to wholesalers through their website. They challenged us to redefine an email marketing program that was heavy on pushy sales materials and light on engagement and education. The company founders are former big pet food employees who saw the opportunity to do better and took it. Our first step was to feature their research, science, and dedication to complete transparency. We engaged their customer base with regular retention emails and introduced new customers and subscribers to the brand with a welcome series and information about the product.

Wins

? Developed a budget-friendly email marketing program for a pet food startup.
? Developed strategies for e-commerce and retailer communications, which in turn led to sales.
? We were able to leverage API's and platform integrations to create transactional emails based on this template.
? In part, our performance with these strategies lead to more business as we impressed the startup's primary investor.

What Was Learned?

🔬

Like many startups, NOBL’s messaging and strategy often pivot. This led to miscommunications early on as we tried to pivot with them. We learned that this type of client requires more resources at the top of the ladder, and a large portion of our management team worked in tandem on the projects. While this led to improved client experience it creates a budgetary concern, which can be a challenge when dealing with a client on a startup budget. This led to us looking for ways to optimize efficiency, with mixed success.
